Questions
Is the free version really free?
Yes — the editor is free forever: cutting, layers, text, music, colour, manual captions and 1080p exports, with no watermark. The AI does the work for you on Pro: auto-captions, AI Clips, translation, and titles.
Do my videos ever leave my computer?
No. Caption Room runs inside your browser, on your own device. Only the audio you choose to auto-caption (a Pro feature) is sent to our servers to transcribe — your video files stay with you, and you never need your own API key.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Pay monthly ($20), annually ($12/mo), or once — a $99 lifetime licence that’s yours forever. Payments run through Stripe’s secure checkout, and subscriptions can be cancelled anytime from your account page.
What are AI credits?
A way to try the AI on the free plan. Watch a short ad in the editor and you earn credits; each AI job — auto-captions, a translation, AI Clips — spends a few. Roughly, one ad covers a translation or a few seconds of auto-captions, so credits suit short clips. Pro skips all of it: unlimited AI, no ads.
What's a caption style?
A look for your burned-in subtitles — colour, outline, and the karaoke highlight. Free includes Classic and Minimal; Pro unlocks all 7 (Bubble, Boxed, Neon, Pop and Fade).
