Privacy

Your footage is yours.

Caption Room is a desktop app that runs on your own computer. The editing, the timeline, and the export all happen on your machine. A couple of AI features call our servers — this page explains exactly which, and what they send.

What stays on your device

Your video files, your projects, your edits, and your exported clips never leave your PC. Caption Room has no media cloud and never uploads your footage.

What we send — only when you ask

Two AI features send data to Caption Room's servers, and only when you trigger them:

We use this data only to provide the feature you asked for. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to build a profile of you.

Your account

If you create an account, we store your email, an optional name, and a securely hashed password (or, for Google sign-in, just your email and name from Google). No payment details are held here while Pro billing is still on the way. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Updates

On launch, the installed app checks a static file feed to see whether a newer version exists. That request reveals only what any download carries (such as your IP and app version). It contains no usage data.

This website

captionroom.app runs behind Cloudflare. If you sign in, it sets one essential cookie to keep your session — nothing more. It sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics. Standard, short-lived server logs may record requests for security and reliability.
